How the belt system works

Main Act uses a skill-area progression, white, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, brown, red, black, across the full practice system. Each area tracks its own belt, but the structure is the same: daily prescribed sessions, feedback, and a belt test that gates promotion to the next rank.

Earning a belt isn't about clocking hours. It's about clearing a structured test: in mix, that means demonstrating ear-training accuracy and a balanced mix decision; in vocals, hitting pitch and stability targets across a singable range; in songwriting, applying craft principles to your own work; in repertoire, maintaining a personal song library through spaced repetition.

The board above shows real promotions across Main Act, anonymized to first names. New promotions surface live as trainers complete their belt tests.
