How the belt system works
Main Act uses a shared 9-belt progression — white, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, brown, red, black — across all five training schools. Each school (Studio Mix, Live Sound, Vocals, Songwriting, Repertoire) tracks its own belt, but the structure is the same: daily prescribed sessions, real-time feedback, and a belt test that gates promotion to the next rank.
Earning a belt isn't about clocking hours. It's about clearing a structured test: in mix, that means demonstrating ear-training accuracy and a balanced mix decision; in vocals, hitting pitch and stability targets across a singable range; in songwriting, applying craft principles to your own work; in repertoire, maintaining a personal song library through spaced repetition.
The board above shows real promotions across all five schools, anonymized to first names. New promotions surface live as trainers complete their belt tests.
