Voice types & vocal ranges

Voice type is about the range and weight of your voice, not your gender — anyone can land in any of these. The ranges below are typical; real singers vary, and your most comfortable, reliable notes (your tessitura) matter more than the absolute extremes.

Higher voices

Soprano

C4 – C6 (about two octaves, middle C up to high C)

A3 – A5 (about two octaves, centered on a warm middle)
